FAQs

Below are our most frequently asked questions from customers just like you.

Do You Guarantee Your Work?

Yes, absolutely! If the provided care instructions are followed, you have a guarantee for five years from the date of refinishing.

How Do You Clean the Coating?

You can use most non-abrasive cleaners. It’s very important that they are non-abrasive as abrasive cleaners will dull your finish over time. We highly recommend purchasing our approved cleaning and maintenance kits which are available from our technicians, or you can contact our office for more information.

How Does the Resurfacing Process Work?

The process that Perma Ceram of Pittsburgh uses has elevated the standard for refinishing in area and we always protect your home during the application. We will mask off the area to protect the other surfaces in the room. We then clean and etch the existing porcelain to create a surface that will properly bond to the Porcelaincote. Next, three coats of glossy Porcelaincote are added and will need to dry for 24 hours to harden. We will also unmask the area and then caulk the tub as a complimentary service. You can start using your tub the next day.

How Many Times Can I Refinish My Bathtub’s Surface?

As many times as you’d like. You’re not limited and can even pick a different color every time you use Perma Ceram.

Is There an Odor During the Refinishing Process?

During the process, we take measures to vent the smell outside. After the process is completed, there’s just a bit of residual odor that is similar to the scent of nail polish or polish remover. This should not last more than one day.

What Are the Benefits of Using thePerma Ceram System?

You can change an outdated bathroom to a modern one in just one day — most bathtubs take just about 3-4 hours to complete — and for much less the cost than replacing your fixtures or tile. Perma Ceram of Pittsburgh is the area’s expert in quality bathroom refinishing and remodeling.

What Is Perma Ceram Refinishing?

Refinishing is a process where a special material is applied over an existing bathtub, sink or tile. This material is nearly as strong as porcelain and easily covers and protects tubs, sinks and tiles without having to buy new fixtures. Perma Ceram of Pittsburgh uses Porcelaincote, a patented material that is durable, glossy and beautiful. If your surfaces are maintained properly as suggested, they will last between 10 to 20 years.

Why Should I Refinish My Bathroom, Tiles or Sinks?

After years of constant use, your bathtub, sink and tiles may be stained, discolored, chipped, or look worn. Refinishing using Perma Ceram’s Porcelaincote can make your bathroom look new again, significantly increasing your home’s value. Best of all, it’s at a fraction of the cost of buying and installing new appliances, surfaces or using an expensive liner system.
